New Yorkers were blessed with a Spring like day on Monday. What a delight, just when it felt like cold Wintry weather was setting in the warmth returned (again, again). The day was so lovely that I thought “What is the perfect thing to do today to make the most of this weather?” The first thing that came to mind was to go to Pier 6. We had gone there once before in the heat of mid Summer and sadly the playground has little shade and lots of equipment that becomes hot under the sun. We loved the playground despite this but made a mental note to go there in Spring and Autumn. On an Autumn day like yesterday with blue skies and warm sunshine what better to do than hang out at an amazing architectural playground on the water with views of Manhattan! The Girls and I shared the 1.6 acre playground with only a handful of others and so there was plenty of space to roam and explore as one pleases. I instantly found a free parking spot right out the front, and had the scooters to zip along the promenade. I packed a picnic lunch which we sat and ate on a grassy knoll in the sunshine – it was so relaxing. Maya climbed the 3 story timber pyramid and bravely slid down the long steep slide. We swung on the variety of swings and climbed in the rope hexagons. After a couple of hours it was time to leave so we fed the seagulls lunch left overs and then rode the scooters back to the car.
One of the best photo sets yet. I liked Maya pushing Elle on the swing, such a good sister, and she was very brave to go down that slippery slide.
