For Maya’s 9th birthday I bought her the Favus Terrarium from ABJ Glassworks. It was the perfect gift for an adult or child that adds beauty to the home, and is something that can be kept and appreciated forever, and if you purchase a FAVUS TERRARIUM from ABJ Glassworks and 10% of the sales proceeds will go to the Xerces Society.

The Favus Terrarium, inspired by Ashley’s love of bees and other garden-loving invertebrates. The shape is based on the honeycomb (“favus” being the Latin for honeycomb cells), with 6 sides composed of hexagons. In the upper-half there are 3 openings to provide your plantings with plenty of air circulation, allow for watering and for you to reach inside. Each terrarium is topped with a decorative point of light or dark amber stained glass (depending on how you prefer your honey!)

Available in two sizes, each terrarium will arrive as a kit, with almost all the supplies you need to get your terrarium planted: pebbles, activated charcoal, and a few helpful tips. The terrarium is handmade from glass and a lead-free silver alloy solder.

One day Ashley hopes to have a hive of her own, but in the meantime she will be donating 10% of the proceeds from the Favus Terrarium to the Xerces Society.
