Last night a friend held a needle felting workshop that I attended. I have admired needle felting for some time, and really enjoyed learning the new skills. We started a simple project of making a needle felted doll/angel or king. I had intentions all along of making an angel tree topper and so I worked quickly with the goal of making an angel that would compliment our Christmas tree. After a few hours of needle felting I had made a good start on a beautiful angel, which I finished today. It was so rewarding to start with a small puff of wool and sculpt it into a beautiful object. I took the finished angel along to playgroup this afternoon to show the teacher and she said “you have felt fever!”. Maya quickly took it from me and held it in a hug claiming the angel as her own, exclaiming “Mummy, it is so beautiful I love it!”. I had a small amount of left over wool roving and so I decided to make a little toad stool and then I embarked on a small doll. Elle could not so much as look at the angel let alone play with it and so I wanted to make a little doll for Elle too. Here is the sweet little needle felted doll and toad stool I made today. I am really enjoying needle felting! I will put up photos of the angel tree topper too…but you might have to wait for Christmas!
