Snowflake Easter Eggs

The last day of Winter means it is time to remove the paper snowflakes from our windows…this always comes with mixed feelings, sad to be saying goodbye to Winter, but oh so happy for Spring to be here! As has become our tradition, we up-cycle the snowflakes into paper Easter egg decorations. I first had this idea last year as you will find here, and was very happy with the effect. This morning we went to work on this lovely annual project .

Using poster board I cut out numerous oval shaped bases. Maya and Elle then painted the cardboard egg shapes. This year we used vibrant inks. We also tried painting a few of the snowflakes, but that is tricky as they are so delicate. Once the egg shaped base was dry I took them outside along with the snowflakes, I then sprayed adhesive glue to the snowflakes and stuck them to the pained egg bases. I then trimmed the circumference of the eggs removing the excess snowflake paper. We are running out of wall space in the Girls bedroom, and so at first I was a not quite sure where to put them…then I decided to just work with it….here is the results, a bright funky Easter installation!
